Altar Guild The Altar Guild is a group
of two person rotating teams that is responsible for setting up the altar for
Sunday morning service, weddings, baptisms, communion, Christmas, Easter, and
all other church services. We also schedule acolytes for services.
Christian Study Fellowship, Disciple Bible
Study, and Covenant Discipleship Groups Christian Study Fellowship
is an excellent activity for the beginner or for the more experienced Bible
student alike. Disciple Bible Study is an opportunity to study the scriptures
in an intense way for 34 weeks. During this time you will read about 70 percent
of the Bible and will gain a clearer understanding of the scriptures. Please
contact the church office at 410-256-6479 or read the Perry
Scope or Sunday
Bulletin for details.
Prayer Chain Prayer requests are
accepted from all sources. To ask for prayer, or to become a praying member
of this telephone chain of prayer warriors, contact the church office at
410-256-6479.
Thrift Shop The Perry Hall United
Methodist Church Thrift Shop is located in Room 103, and is open on Saturdays,
from 10 AM until 1 PM. Clothing and shoes, as well as small appliances and
other household items are available at discount prices. Donations of useable
clothing as well as other usable household items are appreciated.
Food Pantry Perry Hall UMC has operated
an emergency Food Pantry since 1982. We will provide meals for 3 days, 3 meals
each day, the amount of food determined by the number in the family. Our
shelves are kept furnished with non-perishable, nutritious foods through the
warm generosity of the members of PHUMC, and through the government program of
sharing surplus foods. A typical grocery order will include spaghetti and
spaghetti sauce, macaroni and cheese, soups, pork and beans, several
vegetables, several fruits, stew or canned chicken, tuna fish, canned salmon,
peanut butter, dry cereal, and perhaps pancake mix and syrup. We always give
toilet paper, since that commodity is not covered by food stamps. We also, when
we have funds, help in a small way towards eviction notices and BGE turn-offs.
The food pantry is in Room 103, the same room as the thrift shop.
Carpenter's Kitchen Approximately 4
times a year, a group from PHUMC travels down to Mt. Vernon Place UMC, in
downtown Baltimore, to help cook and serve a hot meal to guests from the
surrounding neighborhood, about half of which are living on the streets, while
the remainder exist day-to-day. In addition, we take brownies and fruit for a
"send home" snack for the supper guests , and have recently started a "Souper"
Sunday offering to give funds towards the purchase of foods. This ministry is
open to all.
Adult Choir The backbone of the music
ministry at Perry Hall, this group provides inspirational music at the 11 AM
service. We are a small group in search of individuals who like to sing. Please
join us at our rehearsal night on Wednesdays at 7:45 PM.
Children's & Youth Choirs Children
in grades 1 through 6 join together on Sunday mornings at 9:30 AM for
rehearsals. They sing 1 to 2 times per month, alternating between the 8:15 AM
and 11 AM services. The Children's Choir also sings on special holidays, such
as Christmas and Easter, and does combined pieces with the adult choir.
Handbell Choir The Handbell Choir
presents special music on festival days of the church year, and other times as
appropriate. Choir rehearsals are on Mondays from 7-8 PM. Interested people who
read music are invited to join our choir. |
